It is our sincere prayer that this book will open up to you the miraculous wonder of Japji Sahib.ġ94 pages including an in-depth exploration of the 40 sections of Japji Sahib, 48 full color illustrations, 15 meditations that enhance the effects of the paurees, pronunciation guide and glossary and a foreword by Bhai Sahiba, Bibiji Inderjit Kaur Khalsa, PhD. In this book the Mul Mantra and each of the 38 paurees of Japji, plus the Slok, are explained from a spiritual as well as historical perspective, enhanced by the teachings of Siri Singh Sahib Yogi Bhajan. Japji is made up of 40 remarkable segments where Guru Nanak not only explains the mysteries of the cosmos, but also gives us spiritual instruction that we can follow to achieve the same experience of higher consciousness that Guru Nanak embodied. In Japji Sahib, Guru Nanak touches the deepest essence of individual consciousness, elevating one to the universal consciousness. This is a remarkable and profound statement, for here, Guru Nanak echoes the concept of the “Big Bang” theory nearly five-hundred years before it became known as a scientific theorem. With a single act of his Will, aykaa vaar, the One created all matter and energy and filled the entire universe.

Guru says that whatever is in the divine storehouse was put there only once, all at the same time, at the very beginning of creation and those stores are enough for all things, forever. Guru Nanak reveals something extraordinary in this pauree, Jo kichh paa-i-aa so ayko vaar. In this way he reminds the yogis (and us) that all the creation belongs to the One and is under Divine authority. He tells us that God has a seat of authority, aasan, in world after world, lo-ei lo-ei, and each one of these have abundant provisions for all, bhanddaar. Here again he is speaking of the tradition of the yogis and the storehouses maintained for their food. Guru Nanak states authoritatively that God’s reign prevails everywhere in the cosmos.
